Bourgneuf Size:12x750mlAustere, old school style of Pomerol is rough in texture and lacking in ripenes, fruit and charm. There is some red fruit, and hints of spice and earth, but the style of the wine did not thrill me.

Ramonet rarely misses with this wine and they certainly didn’t in 2014 though I would point out that this is going to need time in bottle to develop further depth

A strikingly complex and impressively pure nose of earthy red pinot fruit with animale hints and ample spice notes dissolves seamlessly into dusty and moderately concentrated flavors that like the RSV exude a finely wrought sense of poise and harmony on the impeccably well-balanced and explosive finish

fresh and vibrant

Black cherry and blackcurrant fruit with some licorice and truffle are all present in this dense purple wine

intense and beautifully vibrant medium weight flavors exhibit plenty of minerality on the balanced and impressively persistent if notably austere finish

if not completely cleaned up to where the reduction was more of a nuance rather than dominating the ripe dark currant

with enticing blackberry and boysenberry confiture flavors inlaid with cocoa powder and dark licorice notes

There is so much fruity succulence here that the wine should stand up to a gamey dish of liver pâté or pasta with wild boar
