Te Mata, Bullnose other_regionsTe Mata's 2015 Bullnose Syrah is a wonderfully fragrant, medium bodied wine. Always one of the region's most aromatic Syrahs, it boasts hints of violets, cracked pepper and licorice strewn over a base of berry fruit. The tannins are silky and the extraction modest, so this wine is approachable young but still firm and concentrated enough to warrant cellaring for 5 7 years from the vintage.

but it's certainly taking its time to come around

Like the Chenevery this is not super vibrant but the density of the mid-palate and overall persistence is most impressive

This is also extremely ripe with notes of cassis

indeed it’s very Volnay

full-bodied and uncommonly sexy and textured in the vintage

This will need plenty more time in bottle to show its best

Currently showing some rigidity and firm rockiness on the nose

It offers preserved layers of guava and hay with delicate touches of passionfruit

Disgorged in July 2024 with one gram per liter dosage
