Camille Giroud, Vosne Romanee Chalandins Vintage:2020(from the Flagey side of the vineyard). A spicy and very Vosne like nose freely offers up its aromas of black pinot fruit, plum, hoisin and exotic tea. The suave and highly seductive flavors coat the palate with sappy dry extract while the finish displays focused power on the mildly warm finale. This needs to develop more depth but it should be able to do so if allowed a few years of cellaring.

As with the rest of the 2014s

A much spicier and more elegant nose presents notes of plum

the 2016 I tasted next to it is even better

mid-priced red from Tenuta San Guido

garnished by hints of sage

the 2018 Chardonnay Horseshoe Vineyard is positively stunning

penetrating finish

and then greeted again before I leave

Smoke and vanilla frame huge blackberry and cassis fruit on the nose

one at the winery and one from my cellar

The caressing yet powerful big-bodied flavors flash good muscle on the raspy and somewhat short if very firm finish

Shows good depth and energy as well
