Naturalist and painter , John James Audubon (1785 1851) traveled thousands of miles over many years to seek out and draw these highly detailed specimens in their natural habitats. These gorgeous illustrations were published by the author as a limited edition subscription series of 435 plates. The Library was in 1931 given one of only 120 complete four volume sets in existence today.
