"Workman In Apron Resting" by Sperry Andrews, Amer., (1917-2005) Rare 4-3/4 x 6-5/8Gouache, ca. 1942, 11 11 16 x 8 1 4, image 5 x 3 1 2, signed with initials in blue crayon l. r. recto and notated "68 42 Iceland" top verso, penciled ref. span 9128, test strokes and marginalia to top margin recto, on textured cream wove watercolor paper. Painted during Sperry Andrews's service in Iceland during WWII, in addition to landscapes the artist portrayed his fellow servicemen and local working people. This workman seems to be on a rest
