This carefully realized monotype of an Icelandic church on a desolate street beneath gray skies with it's steeple in a shaft of light, offering a ray of hope during wartime, shows Sperry Andrews modernist embrace of accentuated hard edges and cubist planar faceting to flatten space, while portraying rural
